เมื่อวันที่ ๒๑ มิถุนายน ๒๕๕๗ นายปิยภักดิ์ ศรีเจริญ อัครราชทูตที่ปรึกษา สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงกัวลาลัมเปอร์ ได้ร่วมแสดงความยินดีแก่นางสาวกัลยาณี มุมิ นักอ่านคัมภีร์อัลกุรอานหญิงจากประเทศไทย ซึ่งได้รับรางวัลที่ ๔ ในการแข่งขันอ่านคัมภีร์อัลกุรอานระหว่างประเทศ ครั้งที่ ๕๖
การแข่งขันในปีนี้จัดขึ้นตั้งแต่วันที่ ๑๖ ถึงวันที่ ๒๑ มิถุนายน ๒๕๕๗ ที่หอประชุมเมอร์เดกา ศูนย์แสดงสินค้าปุตราเวิลด์เทรด กรุงกัวลาลัมเปอร์ โดยมีผู้เข้าแข่งขัน ๖๘ คนจาก ๔๔ ประเทศใน ๔ ทวีป ไทยได้ส่งผู้เข้าร่วมแข่งขันใน ๒ ประเภท โดยได้รับการสนับสนุนจากกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ได้แก่ น.ส. กัลยาณีฯ ซึ่งได้รับรางวัลที่ ๔ ด้วยคะแนน ๘๓.๐๘ เป็นรองเพียงนักอ่านหญิงจากมาเลเซีย ฟิลิปปินส์ และบรูไน และทำคะแนนได้สูงกว่าประเทศมุสลิมหลายประเทศ อาทิ โมร็อกโก และอียิปต์ โดยได้รับพระราชทานเงินรางวัล ๑๕,๐๐๐ ริงกิต จากพระหัตถ์ของสมเด็จพระราชินีแห่งมาเลเซีย ส่วนนายปรานนท์ มุสตาฟา ซึ่งลงแข่งขันในประเภทนักอ่านชาย ได้พระราชทานรางวัลชมเชยมูลค่า ๓,๐๐๐ ริงกิตจากพระหัตถ์ของสมเด็จพระราชาธิบดีแห่งมาเลเซีย ทั้งนี้ ผู้เข้าแข่งขันจากมาเลเซียได้รับรางวัลชนะเลิศทั้ง ๒ ประเภท โดยได้รับพระราชทานทองคำแท่งมูลค่า ๗๐,๐๐๐ ริงกิต และเงินสด ๔๐,๐๐๐ ริงกิต จากสมเด็จพระราชาธิบดีและสมเด็จพระราชินีแห่งมาเลเซีย
On 21 June 2014, Mr. Piyapak Sricharoen, Minister-Counsellor of the Royal Thai Embassy, attended the Closing Ceremony of the 56th al-Quran Recital and Memorization Assembly to congratulate the Thai Qariah who won the fourth prize in the female recital category.
This year's competition is held on 16-21 June 2014 at Merdeka Hall, Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur. 68 competitors from 44 countries in 4 continents participated in the competition, which was divided into 4 categories. Thailand was represented in the Assembly by 2 competitors who were supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. Ms. Kanlayanee Mumi, a Qariah who was awarded 83.04 points, won the fourth prize in the female recital category, only behind Malaysia, the Philippines and Negara Brunei Darussalam, and head of many Muslim-majority countries like Egypt and Morocco. She received the cash prize worth 15,000 Ringgit from Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong, the Queen Consort of Malaysia. Meanwhile, the Thai Qari, Mr. Pranon Mustafa, was awarded the consolation prize worth 3,000 Ringgit from His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the King of Malaysia. Competitors from the host nation, Malaysia, was especially successful in this year's competition, winning in all 4 categories of the competition.
